Slugs leave their lair - The bees are stirring - birds are on the wing - And Winter, slumbering in the open air, Wears on his smiling face a dream of spring !” William Morris wrote the following. "Late February days; and now, at last, Might you have thought that Winter's woe was past; So fair the sky was and so soft the air ."
