Merry Christmas Report - 2017

by Sepp-Michael Zehender, Stuttgart Germany

VIEW EXCLUSIVE: Since 2005, Iran had been strongly focused on development of their atomic energy resources. Since then monthly and weekly news reports were published in the international news media about the efforts of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to sort of control Iranian atomic energy developments.

Living in Stuttgart, Germany, we want to wish you a lot of joy celebrating this years Christmas season, Sun. Dec. 25th,  while we enjoy our Christmas night, Sat., Dec. 24th.

I will continue with my business obligations I have at the Tehran-Mehrabad Airport.

We are in the process of implementing the aviation ground lighting system for the ILS CAT I (Instrument Landing System) for the 4,540 meter long Runway, plus access and high speed exit taxiways, in total 337,000 sq. meters of Portland Cement Concrete (PCC).

For 1 1/2 years now I have been heading the Iranian construction company and the Iranian supervision company as a NEUTRAL FOREIGN Engineer, with my experience of knowing how to keep the airport operative with some 400 civil aircraft movements per day. In addition to the military requests of the Russian Air Force; to practice Take-Offs and landings with their MIGs28's and 32's. They’re infernal noise, meanwhile is "music" in my ears.

The organisational problem of constructing this new runway while keeping the existing runway and parallel taxiway operative is a fact. The PCC cement trucks carry the fresh concrete from the batching plant to the finisher. They have to cross the aircraft taxiing progress on the taxi-way runways two times, once fully loaded, then again returning empty.

"...all the best for the Year 2017, a lot of political CHANGES, hopefully regarding Death to Political Correctness and particularly with Sister Angela and her Welcome policy to the whole world (only 4 billion Africans!) will surprise us to the Good!"

The new runway is being built between the existing runway and its parallel taxi-way, with a centerline separation of 314 meters. This was the challenge from the very beginning, this is why the Iranian Ministry, responsible for 50 airports in IRAN, asked me for cooperation.

My job is simply FUN, traveling to Tehran, completely polluted but otherwise wonderful climatological conditions, every month for two weeks, and helping a labourforce of some 65 Iranians in getting familiarised with German airport engineering.

At the moment, my assignment with this job will be terminated by May/June, when the NEW Runway will be operative. In August 2017, I will be celebrating my 80th birthday, in resilient condition as WE ALL have learned to live, being pre-war born children and had to survive the 2nd World War.

I wish you all the best for the Year 2017, a lot of political CHANGES, hopefully regarding Death to Political Correctness and particularly with Sister Angela and her Welcome policy to the whole world (only 4 billion Africans!) will surprise us to the Good!

With my best regards, Sepp
